Running Resume
Experience Level
Advanced
Short Bio
Marathon Maniac, type 1 diabetic. Ran in high school and community college, then spent a long time as an inconsistent, non-competitive runner. But I always considered myself a runner. I started to get serious, more or less, about it again at the age of 38, in 1997. I've been running more and more since then.
Favorite thing about running
I like to run. I feel good while I'm running. It's as simple as that.
I like to run alone with no goal, with my mind wandering.
I like to race, competing with others or just pushing my own limits.
I like to run with friends, sharing the experience of the outdoors, nature, challenges, accomplishments, and camaraderie.
I selected "Advanced" for "Experience Level," but I don't intend to imply advanced running ability. I am not fast.
Favorite Destination
My Shoes
Lately I have been mostly running Asics Gel Enduro, but that is not necessarily an endorsement. I keep trying different shoes.
Where I've Raced and Traveled
Skyline to the Sea, from Summit Road on the top of the Santa Cruz Mountains down to the beach.
Across the Grand Canyon, six times so far.
The Relay, http://www.therelay.com five times.
Races Won or Placed
I am at best an age group racer, but that was good enough for me to place second overall in the Arizona Road Racers Grand Prix Series in 2006. I placed in the top 3 in my age group 10 times that year.
I was in the top 3 in my age group 6 times in 2007, 5 times in 2005, 9 times in 2004.
