Finishing my first 4k

Finishing my first 4k

I'm finishing the local Runner's Forum Club weekly 4k today. (7/19/07) This is my 6th official race, (My first was on the first Saturday in May) but my first 4k. My time was 24:48, and I ran the whole way (a first for me)

I look pretty bad because I'm sprinting while breathing with my mouth open and the picture was blurry. Blurry means I was running fast right?

Three workouts in one for a 3 mile run

Posted by trunner on 7/12/2007 on trunner's blog | Groups: Lets Run

This morning, I decided to do a 3 mile run. The run consisted of 3 parts. These parts are hills, tempo runs, and medium to high cruising runs. I started out by running down the hill from our driveway, right into a medium cruising run. Then on the next street, I did a short tempo run. After crossing the next street after that I did another tempo run but at full power followed by a short walk and then another tempo up a hill but not at full power. Then I crossed the bridge and ran down and did some cruising.

turning a failed run into a positive tempo run

Posted by trunner on 6/4/2007 on trunner's blog

Today, my first run of this week was suppose to be a 6 mile run, or at least that was what it started out to be. I had everything figured in my head as to what route I was going to run. How I would pace my runs at certain areas of the course. Everything was going just fine despite the humidity until about 1.8 miles into the run. At this point, there cars coming one by one, the humidity was getting bad, and I had to stop and wipe my face every couple of minutes. I had slightly over 4 more miles to go dealing with this stuff. Well, it wasn't getting better, just worse.

A run in the sun

Posted by trunner on 5/30/2007 on trunner's blog

I was going to run 5 or 6 miles today, but, with the temperature as hot as it was, I decided only to run 2 miles. Thus, planning on a morning long run the next day. I started out easy and made some good time through out the first half of the run. On the way back, I noticed that my left shin started to hurt a bit. It's been bothering me since last Saturday's race. So rather than trying to get a good finish time, I down shifted and hobbled back to the house. Kind of a much slower run with some walking here and there. Better to be able to run another day.

Today's Recovery Run in the Sun

Posted by trunner on 5/29/2007 on trunner's blog

Wow!!! What a run and in the sun too! Near 80 degrees and perfect weather. I took it easy today and did a recovery run with a time of 22:36 for 2 miles. I did lower than normal cruising speed in the flat areas of the route. I wasn't out for any records today, just to enjoy the run and the sun. I kept the speed off on purpose today aside from the fact of what type of run I was doing. I just wanted to enjoy the run. The run consisted of a hill at the very beginning of the course, followed by about 1/4 to 1/2 a mile of a flat road. Then an up hill incline to a bridge followed by a down hill to my turn around and then back the same way except for the end, I went up one street more and then intersected where I started from.

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!!!!!!!!

Posted by baselbutt on 3/1/2007 on baselbutt's blog | Groups: North Pole Marathon

I should have known that on a day when the top news story was Posh Spice's new reality show which (over the course of 6 episodes) will chronicle her move from London to L.A, I would be destined to have an amazing run.

As I mentioned yesterday, my wife and kids went to dinner at a friend's house tonight. Daddys unfortunately weren't invited... so Daddy got to go for a very rare (we're talking Honus Wagner rare!) long run after work. It was the same 14.3 mile "butterfly run" I did last week, only much later in the day and with a full day's worth of stress to burn off.
