Leadville 100 - pacer and crew

Posted by redifrogger on 8/1/2007 on redifrogger's blog

Well - I have a buddy running the Leadville 100 mile Race Across the Sky, and I volunteered to be a pacer for him. Never been in Colorado before - I am going to be one hurtin' pup when this is done. I won't be able to get there until Thursday and the race starts at 4 a.m. on Saturday. I will be sucking wind the whole time. It's living though!

81 miles this week plus have been doing the "Tour de France" at my athletic club (spin classes while watching the tour) so a total of 15+ hours of training this week.

Wednesday - Decent 15+ miler with Andy Carlson. He runs at 5:00am though, ouch!!!

My Leadville story

Posted by Chris L on 11/28/2006 on Chris L's blog

I'm going to kick of my blog with a blog entry I wrote following this year's Leadville race.

August 20, 2006 -- 10:00 am, 3 hours after finishing.

I am one sore puppy today (and that will of course only get worse for the next 48 hours).

So, my goals for the race were:

1) Finish
2) Break into the top 100
3) Break 25 hours (and net the big buckle)

Final time was 26:47 ... only remarkable because I had such a difficult time with the double crossing of Hope Pass. I've run this double crossing several times in test, but yesterday my HR was 15 pts higher than normal and I could not get air in to power my legs.
