Green Light means Run!

Posted by trunner on 8/18/2008 on trunner's blog | Groups: Lets Run

Well, great news to share…..While I haven’t posted of late, I have been
running and I have been given the “Green Light” to return to running. I
had to stop running in around mid June due to some possible health
conditions at that time. Health conditions regarding my heart. Well,
after being poked, prated, scaned and exrayed, the conclusion is that
“I do have a heart”! :)
I was told to return to running and exercising and that is what I am

A note about my running and racing

Posted by trunner on 7/13/2008 on trunner's blog | Groups: Lets Run

I haven't been posting anything lately about running or racing. I have had to put a hold on all running and racing until further notice. After having some tests, there is an issue that I am having looked into. Will post an update when I can. Happy running to everyone! Tim

4,152 Calories and 1,038 grams of sugar.

Posted by gditsch on 3/4/2007 on gditsch's blog

I have been doing a little experiment over the last several weeks with myself. I have been logging the cans/bottles of Mountain Dew and Coke that I have been drinking - primarily to gain an understanding about the amount of soda I consume regularly.

In the last seven (7) days, I have consumed: 240 fluid ounces of Mt. Dew and 32 fluid ounces of Coke.

That equals: 4,152 Calories and 1,038 grams of Sugar.

That is a pretty large consumption of Calories that ultimately equals zero nutritional value. So the question should be asked, Why do you drink all that soda? It is a question that I actually get asked in different ways at times.

One good run...

Posted by simon on 2/4/2007 on simon's blog

One good run is all it takes...then the world is suddenly a better place.

And today was the day. A five-mile time trial I had been dreading. Another key piece in coach Bobby McGee's assessment of us sub-5 milers, the instructions for this one were to go out and get steady state heart rate data. Not an average heart rate; Bobby wants to know where our heart rate settles when we are committed to good pace cruise mode.

Lately I've been feeling tired and grungy. I'm flying one day, wiped out another -- and there's no pattern to it. I gave a pint of blood on Thursday (or that's what it felt like) to fuel some tests to see if we can find out what's going on. Meanwhile, I have cut back training to just every other day, in a bid to help my recovery from whatever it is that is bugging me.
