Who says you can’t PR at 54?

After having a great 10 miler on Sunday, I had a 5K circuit race the next Saturday. If it wasn’t a circuit race, I would not have gone because I was already signed up for a half marathon the very next day. I wanted to do well for my Fleet Feet team, so my strategy was to really try for the 5K and take the half marathon easy.

Brooklyn Half Marathon 5.3.08

Posted by Runner NYC on 5/5/2008 on Runner NYC's blog

Hi all,

Race number 11 (9th 2009 marathon-qualifying race – I just need to “volunteer” at a race to have guaranteed entry) was the Brooklyn Half Marathon.

Hi all, Race number 4 (3rd 2009 marathon-qualifying race and 2nd Grand Prix Half Marathon) was the BronxHalf Marathon. The course is an odd cloverleaf shape. The first loop goes out to the Moshulu Parkway from the Jerome Reservoir and back (about 6 miles). We turn just before we would cross the finis

Surf City Half Marathon 2.3.08

Posted by Runner NYC on 2/11/2008 on Runner NYC's blog

Hi all, Race number 4 was the Surf City Half Marathon.  It was an out-and-back course along the Pacific Coast Highway with a 3-mile loop back into the hills. Goals:  I’d just run the Manhattan Half Marathon the weekend before, so I wasn’t sure how my legs would feel, not to mention jet-l

Ups and Down

Posted by baldwyn on 10/15/2007 on baldwyn's blog

I ran the second running of the Rock and Roll San Jose half-marathon. So far I've run 'em all, but I guess that won't be semi-impressive for another 8 years or so. I met up with a friend of mine, who was going to be "just glad to finish before the walkers." He finished with a 1:54 last year on his first attempt, so I knew better. Somewhere in the same corral was a former running partner of mine (we used to run during work, until I quit that place), who was thinking last week about getting bumped back in a couple of corrals, because he was discouraged by recent training runs.

Posted by Runner NYC on 9/24/2007 on Runner NYC's blog

Hi all, Race 27 was the Queens Half Marathon. It was a new course for the Queens Half (not to mention a new time of year – it’s usually in April or May) and you know what that means – guaranteed course PR!

Disneyland Half Marathon 9.03.07

Posted by Runner NYC on 9/20/2007 on Runner NYC's blog

Race 26* was Disneyland Half Marathon. We started in Downtown Disney, ran around the back of California Adventure, then entered and ran through California Adventure, crossed the esplanade and entered Disneyland, ran through Disneyland, came back out onto the streets of Anaheim, ran back and over to Arrowhead Pond (home of the Mighty Ducks), ran along the Santa Ana Trail towards Angels’ Stadium, entered the stadium and circled the bases (not on the field itself, though), came back out onto the streets, and finished up at Downtown Disney.
