South Boulder Creek Breakthrough

Posted by brad on 7/15/2007 on brad's blog

Eldo to Boulder.  13.69m.  2:30:00.  I know that I’ve gone to the next level on my marathon training when I do Eldo to Boulder.  It’s one of my favorite runs and I felt great today while doing it.  I stopped at 13.69m because I had a brunch meeting in town – I could have kept going because I had plenty left.

Running to Work

Posted by brad on 7/10/2007 on brad's blog

Eldorado Springs to Boulder via Mesa Trail: +1,980/-2,772.  10.64m.  2:20:50.  We have a new office at 1050 Walnut Street in Boulder.  One of my favorite things about it is the run I get to do from my house.  I did it for the first time today - a solid 2:20 on Mesa Trail.  I’m sure I’ll speed this up over time, but in addition to a huge altitude gain / loss I started off with 100 oz of water in my Camelback.  It was a stupendous run – I can’t wait to do it again.

The Perfect Boulder Morning

Posted by brad on 4/2/2007 on brad's blog

Eldorado Springs - Reservoir – 3.39m.  40:52.  HR between 145 and 155.  I took it easy today – I felt tired from the weekend of running.  I hit the road just as dawn was breaking and returned into a beautiful sunrise.  It’s a perfect day in Boulder - brilliant blue skies, 45 degrees, and no snow.  I’m going to take tomorrow off and call it a rest day due to a 6am flight to California and the need to rest my legs a little.

The Return of Mud Season

Posted by brad on 3/31/2007 on brad's blog

Reverse Fowler Trail: Eldorado Springs, CO:  4.47 miles: 54:38.  I had a great running week two weeks ago (3/19 – 3/25) – I covered 21.2 miles (first week over 20 this year.)  I felt good and strong.  Mid-day on Monday I started feeling itchy and by the end of the day had a rash on my upper body which steadily got worse through Wednesday.  As a result, I didn’t run until today – I felt low energy as I was fighting off whatever caused me to look like an alien.

Last Sunday I did Reverse Fowler in 57:14.  Today I covered the same ground in 54:38.  While I certainly was rested from not running during the week, I think I had a little bit of base improvement from finally getting off my butt and covering some ground the previous week.

Walking and Running

Posted by brad on 3/11/2007 on brad's blog

Eldorado Springs: Noon – walk to Eldo Reservoir with Amy (3.5m / 1:03); 4pm – treadmill – 2.48 – 30:00.  I know that when I feel like “running” twice in one day (even if one of them is a walk) that I’m starting to get back in the groove.  It is a beautiful day in Eldo – our walk was perfect.  I watched another version of Lost in the afternoon on the treadmill.  My shoes were muddy (dried by 4pm) so there are piles of dirt in the treadmill room to be cleaned up by some hapless (not me) soul.

Home Sweet Treadmill Home

Posted by brad on 3/10/2007 on brad's blog

Eldorado Springs Treadmill – 3.53m – 40:30.  I was going to run outside today but it got cloudy, started raining, and I felt like watching another episode of Lost.  Now that I’m completely addicted I decided to go back and watch the first season again since there was so much that I missed – no better way to do it than on the treadmill.  I felt pretty good – my weight was down some to 215 as I’ve been watching what I shove in my mouth and I finally got a solid rhythm of running in this week (four days – I’ll definitely get a run in

Another Mud Day

Posted by brad on 2/19/2007 on brad's blog

Eldorado Springs – 3.3 – 39:30.  I had my watch today and my headphones.  It was a slow run, but I am 220 after all.  It felt good to get outside two days in a row.

Mud Run

Posted by brad on 2/18/2007 on brad's blog

Eldorado Springs – 3.3m – 40 minutes.  57 degrees.  We finally had a normal “Boulder winter” day here.  The sun came up, the sky was blue, and it got up to 57 degrees.  I ran naked (no watch, no headphones) so I’m not really sure how long I ran for, but let’s guess it was 40 minutes.  This was my first outdoors run in a long time and it was magnificent.  My mind wandered, my legs warmed up, and I just felt good.  The mud is legendary right now as the snow just continues to melt.  Hopefully I’ll get another one like this in tomorrow before I head up to Keystone.

Tiny Little Marbles in My Head

Posted by brad on 12/12/2006 on brad's blog

Eldorado Springs Treadmill – 2.7m – 30 min.  While I usually take Monday’s off, I felt like seeing how I feel now that I’m back at 5500 feet.  At the end of the day I hopped on my treadmill at my house.  I popped in 24 Season 1 (5pm) to have something to run to and – lo and behold - while I got audio from the TV in my exercise room, I didn’t have any video.  So – I listened to 24 for 30 minutes (it’s surprising good on audio only when you know the story.)  My run was ok – I picked up the pace a little in the middle
