Indoor Nationals 2008 - a memorable weekend.

Posted by dave albo on 3/31/2008 on dave albo's blog

I was running along the Charles river in Boston this morning contemplating the last two days of racing, when who came up on me but David Cannon, winner of the mile and 3k in my age group, all smiles. We ran together and talked about great it was to be here racing. One big theme for this masters track racing scene is the friendliness and inclusiveness of the participants. We want to race all out and put the hurt to the other guy/gal, but before and after its very friendly and gracious.

I actually ran 5K this morning!

Posted by njladybug on 3/27/2008 on njladybug's blog

Wow! I have come a long way since January. I can’t believe I am now running a full 5K! It’s amazing! I’ve never been a runner before but I’m seeing how it’s a really good thing. I’m feeling better, losing wieght and have more energy. Plus my clothes fit better - I’m into my jeans easily! Not to mention I have some really cool muscles in my legs now!

Missed Race - NYRR 8k Challenge

Posted by Runner NYC on 3/16/2008 on Runner NYC's blog
Last night, I was sitting here with my race clothes laid out on the bed and my race bag packed. I had checked the weather and had a back-up plan for the extra 11 miles I was supposed to run.
Unfortunately, the race was yesterday morning. I planned for a Sunday race all week. I don't know what happened, but I suspect I got mixed up because I'd attempted to run Shamrock and had Sunday in my head.

Skyline Ridge 50k

Posted by baldwyn on 3/4/2008 on baldwyn's blog

I've not been very disciplined since finishing my last 2007 race, which was the North Face Endurance Challenge in San Francisco. That was my first ultra, at a distance of 50k. I didn't bother with my usual semi-attention to calories over the holidays, and packed on a few pounds. Come January, my long runs involved stretches of walking, and were sporadically sprinkled in my "training schedule."
Weird. You wouldn't think I was trying to work up to 50 miles in April, as an attempt to qualify for the Western States 100, huh?

Newby Runner - well, walker but working on the running thing

Posted by njladybug on 1/22/2008 on njladybug's blog

Below are entries from my blog on facebook. I wanted to post here too in case there is anyone who might get something from them or anyone who can offer support or just in case someone wants to comment. I am new to running and have decided to try it out. My husband and I train together and most of the time we walk because that is the fitness level that I am at. But I'm getting better and hopefully will be running soon. We are training for a 8k run in June. Here are some previous blogs (I'm also new to blogging):
