Great pictures! Can you write out a few details on the run itself? It looks like it was a lot of fun.

All the best,
Bobby

I am a member of the East Valley Runners, runners in Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, the east side of Phoenix, AZ, the east side of the Valley of the Sun. Almost every year they get a group together to do some running across the Grand Canyon, generally South Rim to North Rim on one day, then North Rim to South Rim the next day. It's a total of about 49 miles, but it's the thousands of feet of descending and ascending that get you.
People cross at different paces, some of them quite fast. I have usually run as much as possible on the downhill parts of the trip, then trekked back out of the Canyon. You start early in the morning, and get out in the afternoon. The second day it is tough to get up and think about doing it all over again, but the North Rim is 1000 feet higher than the South Rim, and we take a shorter route across on the second day, so it is a little easier.
The pictures I posted are from two trips, in 2004 and 2006. We're going again in May. I'm really looking forward to it. It's a great way to really experience the Canyon. Sometimes, looking at it from above, or up from below, you can't believe what you're doing, and what you've done.
