What About China?

Posted by Canadian on 3/31/2007

I have just spent several years teaching in China and may have to return for another year. Anyway, I will be great because I would be in Beijing. And for the Olympics!

A question: does anyone have any experience with Master's competition in China? I could see the People's Republic putting on lots of competitions in the year leading up to the Games. To create that rah-rah atmosphere. On the other hand, having some experience with the country, maybe not!

What's the air pollution likely to be like in Beijing? Do you think it will affect Western athletes?

A good source of info on masters running in China could be the vets in Hong Kong -- they may have an idea about what's going on:

In the big cities like Shanghai and Beijing, the pollution can be bad. On the other, I did a lot of running while in China and I never had any difficulties.
