Wow man, I was BORN in 1990 keep it up. I found this site very beneficial to me and my running. If you pay attention to high school cross country state qualifiers in PA my team has a chance to be in the top five or possibly win states. I am glad to have this chance to talk to runners all over, I just wish there were more people on here. I really envy you for running those distances Stone Cold, my goal is to make it to college with track and cross-country and eventually be able to run those 50 milers and double marathons.

Hey I bet you are stone cold. I've got my first marathon coming up on Oct. 20th. You should consider yourself lucky that you aren't an American Football fan, it is so hard to focus on training and doing those long runs with football games every weekend. I've got 22 on Saturday and a Razorback Football game.

Supersutter: I think it's a good idea to stay focused on the track and cross country now while you have the chance to make college with it. You'll have plenty of time to expand your distance later. It is very tough to expand your mileage to the large distances and keep up speed in the shorter ones. I don't know if you were planning it that way already, but I love to pop up with my $.02 anyway.

Stone Cold you've got it right -- allowing yourself about two years from your first marathon to doing two at once :) What have you been doing to prepare for Toronto?

Jolyn: welcome. There's a lot of good advice flying around here. How are you planning to get to three miles by December? What does your schedule look like?

Thanks for asking about my training leading up to Toronto, Simon .
I started putting base miles in January just easy miles . I started with some Vo2 type intervals in May once a week for 6 weeks . Then I started with some tempo's while cutting out the Vo2 work . Since May I have avg. close to 80 miles per week Peaking at an even 100 miles . As for supplementary exercises I stretch (static) 20-30 min. daily . I do leg weights twice a week for 40 min always 1 leg at a time with light weights and fast execution . I do upper weights twice a week about 30 min per session . I spend about 15 min. 4 times per week on core stability .
thanks for your interest guys
