ASICS GEL-KAYANO XI

Posted by fugie on 11/6/2006

Currently my favorite running shoe is the ASICS GEL-KAYANO XI. I'm aware the GEL-KAYANO XI isn't the latest model, but typically when I find a shoe that works for me, I end up buying a few pairs, so I don't have to track down a new set, when the current pair wears out. With the understanding that once a shoe starts to break down, it's best to move to new pair to prevent any injuries, I'm moving to the third and final pair of GEL-KAYANO XIs that I have. For those keeping track, I buy my wines using the same methodology. :-)

At this point, I'd classify myself as a recreational runner, if such a category exists, and thus unlike many of my hard core running friends, I don't have shoes for different types/lengths of runs. I'm just happy I can still run, ride my bike, and kayak. :-)

My GEL-KAYANO XI pair two will be relegated to protecting my feet when I wash the car tomorrow and my KAYANO XI pair three, I will break in tomorrow, when I take the kid for a run in the BOB stroller.

I also run with the Gel Kayano XI. Does anyone know what the symbols on the back of these stand for or represent? I think they were also on the IX model, and most likely others, but I was just wondering if anyone knew? Please throw up a post if you do.

According to "pinkfreud-ga" posting on Google Answers....

"The Japanese Kanji symbol on the heel of the ASICS Kayano shoe
represents the Kayano family. It is similar to a "family crest" as
used in Western tradition.

'To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the GEL Kayano asics introduces
its new state-of-the-art BIOMORPHIC FIT™ technology and incorporates a
new commemorative Kanji symbol onto the heel design.'

'The Kanji symbol is an ancient Japanese Family tradition. The Kayano
X proudly bears the authentic Kanji of the Kayano family on the heel.'
