Description
If you're a runner who also loves to surf (and you're lucky enough to find yourself in Santa Cruz), this run quickly becomes your "Best Ever." Start off by stretching outside of Elizabeth's Cafe, overlooking the epic surf off Pleasure Point, one of the more famous surf spots in California. Then head east on East Cliff Drive, which gives you perfect views of more surf spots as you run. Off of East Cliff, continue heading east on Opal Cliff drive, which eventually heads down a 1/4 mile decline into the quaint beach town of Capitola. Turn around and go back the same way (the now-incline is a great mid-run challenge). Pleasure Point to Capitola and back works out to just over 3 miles - this run is also great because it can easily be extended or shortened. The dramatic cliff/coast scenery (and surf watching when the swell is up) makes the run seem short.
