The marathon is on a short list of athletic contests in which the majority of the participants' goals is not to win, but to only finish the competition. For most runners, the marathon is the longest run they have ever attempted. Lance Armstrong, one of the greatest endurance athletes in history, even called it "without a doubt the hardest physical thing I have ever done." It's a physical, mental and emotional test of a lifetime. And YourRunner baldwyn just completed his first one. First, as in, there will be more. After reading his comprehensive blog entry about his first marathon experience, you might wonder why. But his blog post, summarizing the lead up to the event, the pain therein, and the emotions he felt during and after, could also be read as a testament to the addictive quality of self-competition and accomplishment.
Post a blog about your first time, and next week's pair of Injinji socks could be YOURS! | |
