Anything but That!

Posted by weltal327 on 10/19/2007 on weltal327's blog

So, I am planning on running the Kansas City Marathon tomorrow, but yesterday as the day went on, the worse I began to feel and the more my throat hurt. I got some of my favorite feel better Vitamin C drink yesterday, but I had trouble pulling my achy body from the bed this morning and now my throat is intensely bad.

I want to run the marathon, but I don't know if being sick will kill me or what.

I guess I'll have to wait until about 7 am tomorrow to decide if I will be marathoning or not.

No satisfaction from a PR

Posted by baldwyn on 9/24/2007 on baldwyn's blog

Last week, the Silicon Valley Marathon sent out an email announcing a "Hat Trick" prize for completing the Almaden Classic 10k (Sept 23), the San Jose R&R Half Marathon (Oct 14), and the Silicon Valley Full Marathon (Nov 4). Since I was already signed up for the half, and was planning on the full, it was a no brainer to run the 10k.

I'd like to run like this woman, please

Posted by simon on 9/18/2007 on simon's blog

No, I'm not proud.

This morning I was waiting in the clinic of Mark Plaatjes, world marathon champion turned world-class physical therapist, for treatment to the lumpy Achilles on my left foot and sprained ankle (again) on my right foot, when I picked up this old copy of Running Times.

Yesterday's Rain

Posted by Jerry Nairn on 8/28/2007 on Jerry Nairn's blog

Saturday's run was questionable. I don't have a problem with rain, but I'm not crazy about lightning. It was just drizzling a bit, threatening to rain, but there was lightning in the distance when I started running on the canal with some friends in Team D.

What runners think about when they're running

Posted by noob_runner on 8/7/2007 on noob_runner's blog

This week I've started taking my younger brother (6 years old) running/walking for about 1.25 mile to help him get ready for 1 mile run in October.

Anyway, today, mid-run, he suddenly said that he figured out what runners think about while they're running. I had no idea where this came from, so I asked, "What DO runners think about?"

He listed three things:

Where they're going,
Things to avoid in the pathway, like trees and bushes,
And watching for cars.

Which, if you think about it, is true. But that's not all we think about.

Anyway, just thought I'd share...

Time flies when you fall back asleep

Posted by StellaTortoise on 7/16/2007 on StellaTortoise's blog

I remember setting the alarm and turning it on. Heck, I think even remember turning it off at 4:30 and telling myself to get dressed and head to the gym so that I could get back for a quick run. What felt like 5 minutes turned out to be 180 minutes because the next time I looked at the clock it was 7:00.

Plant Shut's Down, but the Running doesn't

Posted by weltal327 on 7/5/2007 on weltal327's blog

This week at the halfway point of the year is a time where the plant shuts down and work stops. Everyone goes on kind of a forced vacation, so I did.

My first stop was Fayetteville, AR where my fraternity brothers and I gathered for our summer meeting. That morning, I took a nice little 5 mile run up and down the hills of Fayetteville. Did most of it on the monster hills at the beginning of the Hogeye Marathon course. It was a lot of fun, and I had some nice soreness in my (as Simon so eloquently puts it) in my bum.
