I actually ran 5K this morning!

Posted by njladybug on 3/27/2008 on njladybug's blog

Wow! I have come a long way since January. I can’t believe I am now running a full 5K! It’s amazing! I’ve never been a runner before but I’m seeing how it’s a really good thing. I’m feeling better, losing wieght and have more energy. Plus my clothes fit better - I’m into my jeans easily! Not to mention I have some really cool muscles in my legs now!

Newby Runner - well, walker but working on the running thing

Posted by njladybug on 1/22/2008 on njladybug's blog

Below are entries from my blog on facebook. I wanted to post here too in case there is anyone who might get something from them or anyone who can offer support or just in case someone wants to comment. I am new to running and have decided to try it out. My husband and I train together and most of the time we walk because that is the fitness level that I am at. But I'm getting better and hopefully will be running soon. We are training for a 8k run in June. Here are some previous blogs (I'm also new to blogging):

An idea (for pain) is born...the Buckeye Run.

Posted by Jetfuelburner on 11/18/2007 on Jetfuelburner's blog

So, I have this idea....

I started kicking around this idea in my head that because eventually I want to do a transcontinental run, I should run across my home state first.  Sometime next spring (late April/early May) I think I am going to give Ohio a go, starting at the Indiana border and going east to Pennsylvania.  I will find and use a jogging stroller just like the transcon guys use...

Warped and twisted, but a good week

Posted by simon on 9/4/2007 on simon's blog

Marked as it was by another stunningly mediocre performance, this time in the Pearl Street Mile, and ending with a banged-up hip, knee and ankle from an evasive fall during a night-time run, how could this qualify as a good week? But it was, in a warped and twisted way.

A very long relay race

Posted by rgdula on 8/14/2007 on rgdula's blog | Groups: Wild West Relay

So this weekend I participated in one of the most powerful events in my life: a 195 mile relay race from Ft. Collins, CO to Steamboat Springs, CO. Yes.... 195 miles. There were 12 of us on my team (as team of Hash House Harriers- A self-professed Drinking Club with a Running Problem) and we each ran 3 of the 36 race legs.

Huntington Beach Training

Posted by Jetfuelburner on 8/12/2007 on Jetfuelburner's blog

Huntington Beach Training

I am now in training for the upcoming Akron Road Runner marathon (Sept. 29)

Well, yesterday was supposed to be a 5 mile recovery pace training run on the marathon training schedule. Supposed to be. At the end of my work day I had been on duty 13 hours and 30 minutes, and although I had every intention to put in a 5 miler when I got to the hotel, when I laid down for a second, that second stretched into all night. In a blink.

Running for Charity - Week 1

Posted by agoyette on 5/7/2007 on agoyette's blog
Adidas Supernova

Well I came out of my first week of training with 2 major observations. The first observation being that I need a new pair of running shoes. The second observation being that I might actually be able to run a marathon.

I covered 19 miles with 2 rest days this first week and concluded with a “long” run of 5 miles on Sunday. I am sure that is not that long to most people on this site but for me it was.

San Francisco Airport Brisbane Run

Posted by Jetfuelburner on 4/28/2007 on Jetfuelburner's blog

San Francisco Airport - Brisbane, CA (I copy and paste my blog from my other blog www.fitfromfat.blogspot.com - the pictures don't come over, so sometimes I have to edit it to make sense....if you go to the other blog you will see all the photos.....)

I was going to run last night from my hotel on the San Francisco Bay in Brisbane across the peninsula and down to the beach at the Pacific Ocean. I started thinking about it being Friday night, and the higher likelihood of drunks driving and I decided instead to set my alarm and wake up early to do my run.

Little Talbot Island State Park

Posted by Jetfuelburner on 4/11/2007 on Jetfuelburner's blog

Little Talbot Island State Park
Jacksonville, FL

I got some more time off today with a little daylight left, and I decided to head for the beach! A quick google map search revealed a state park maybe 15 miles away, and I was headed there!

After paying my entrance fee (yes they charged me 3 bucks) I got some good local info from the park ranger on what to expect along the park trail. I was told there was little chance I would see much wildlife, but they did have turtles, rattlesnakes, bobcats, and even one alligator that they knew of, although he lived in an area away from the trail. I didn't see any of these, but I did see an armadillo. I heard him rustling around the undergrowth and stopped to investigate. I could not get close enough for a photo through the foilage however.
