Do you lock your valuables in your car? Not safe enough: try this

Posted by simon on 4/4/2008 on simon's blog
The Traveksafe 100 easily holds all this -- or a pair of shoes!

When I drive out to the start of a long run or a track session, I do what most of us do: I stuff my wallet under the seat or a floor mat, lock the car and take off.

Well, that’s what I used to do, until Abby told me there’d been a spate of vehicle break-ins. Even worse, it turned out the thieves weren’t just after credit cards, cash and phones, but IDENTITY. With a wallet, driver’s, insurance docs, phone and all the rest of it they could do some serious damage.

Running gadget of the year so far: the Garmin speed-distance monitor just got better

Posted by simon on 2/1/2008 on simon's blog
Must-have: the new Garmin 406.

First "must have" gadget of the year has appeared on the Garmin website. Well, it may be in the shops by now, but I haven't spotted one yet...

the GPS folks have seriously upgraded the trusty Forerunner series; the latest model, the 406, now looks as though it is wrist watch size, rather than the miniature tv screen I wear on my wrist (to be fair, I still use a vintage version)... plus they have effectively knocked out the competition with the inclusion of an optional foot pod.

Fit From Fat book makes Amazon.com!

Posted by Jetfuelburner on 11/18/2007 on Jetfuelburner's blog

After a little waiting, my book, Fit From Fat has been listed on Amazon.com!

All you have to do is go to Amazon and type in Fit From Fat and it should come up on the first search page!  Here is also a direct link to the service that lists it on Amazon.  I can't put a direct Amazon link up because it changes position on the page...

Posted by Jetfuelburner on 11/1/2007 on Jetfuelburner's blog

So, after a very nice positive comment from Little Mama Lopez, I thought I would update about my book, Fit From Fat. Today I got the black and white version published and available. The color, the black and white, and the download are available at:

http://stores.lulu.com/store.php?fAcctID=1414667

If anyone is so motivated to buy one and read it, please review it on here, good OR bad!  I want real feedback!

Get the scoop straight from a multi-world record-holder: Henry's book is out

Posted by simon on 10/31/2007 on simon's blog

Former world record-holder Henry Rono, still on the track of the world masters mile record, did achieve one his goals this year: he finished his autobiography and got it published.

Here's the truth as only Henry can tell it, of those classic races -- some of them won despite severe over-doses of alcohol -- many of them performances that set the track world on fire and had world-class athletes shaking their heads in disbelief.

Mine's on its way from Amazon; can't wait to get the real inside story on how he did it.

Do you want to do well at Boston?

Posted by simon on 11/30/2006 on simon's blog

"Bobby Mcgee is the only coach I know who consistently gets folks to PR at Boston – a very difficult thing to do. He has had several under 3 hours and coached elites to PRs at Boston", says Marci Roschke, who works with Bobby and has used his program herself to run the world's oldest marathon.

Next year's event on April 16 is a bit special: the race celebrates its 111th anniversary and more than 20,000 runners are expected to participate. Bobby's Boston program is now recruiting.

"This program is definitely a particular Bobby speciality", says Marci. "He has had many athletes, elites included, who have had reat success at Boston using it. Last year we had several reach their goals, including a sub-3-hour run and PRs -- neither of which are easy to do at Boston. The program is designed by Bobby specifically for the Boston course."
