Transition time

Posted by Finish Strong on 11/25/2007 on Finish Strong's blog | Groups: Sub-5 Minute Miling

It's been a time of change in my life recently. My father's passing has led to a period of introspection and, I hope, positive new direction. I will write off my recently acquired tendency to eat like a bear preparing to hibernate as a comfort food grief reaction, rather than a total loss of discipline. I didn't want to test the shelf life of ice cream, so one day became a common time period for it to remain in my freezer. I was buying foods I rarely used to buy, and devouring them in short order. I didn't abandon running during the past month; just the emphasis on speed - otherwise , who knows how much I would have gained?

Another change is a move out of what had been my residence of ten years. The move was local - at least for now - but involved a great deal of sorting and sifting. I have a goal of simplifying my life. There is more work to do. I am seriously considering a relocation to another region of the country, and invite feedback regarding areas that you may consider to be ideal.

The legs are feeling good, though a little heavy. Progressive treadmill runs and turf running are a few of my favorites at the moment. It's good to be back in the mix.

Happy trails!

Southern California is a runner's dream! At least I love it. Lots of running groups, hundreds of planned events, temps between 40-70 in the winter, 50-90 in the summer (all depending where you live), no humidity, oceans, mountains, canyons. Of course, living by the ocean is just amazing :)
