Today's 6 miler in the sun

Posted by trunner on 6/11/2007 on trunner's blog | Groups: Lets Run

Well finally, I got my 6 miler in today. Weather was perfect, 84 degrees and little or no wind. Sun, Sun, and more Sun. When I originally mapped this route, it was 6 miles, but, I'm thinking that I may need to re-map the distance to confirm what I ran. It's at least 5.9 or 6 miles. It was a great run and when I finished, I was not tired or ruined from the run. I was sweating from head to toe. One thing that I noticed was that improvement in performance is happening! I haven't had a chance to compare runs yet, but, it seams that todays 6 miler actually shows improvement of my recent 5.2 mile run. I based this upon where I was after an hour on the road. It was the same course, just more mileage. After finishing this run, I am confident that I am at least ready for my 10k in July. If all else, hopefully I can be more than ready. Also, after todays outcome, I have noticed that I could have done 7 miles if I wanted to, so, I am going to start upping my long runs now and then in order to pursue other goals. My time for todays run was 1:11:?? -- I am happy!!! My average 10k time is 01:08:?? and my worst 10k time is approx. 01:13:??.

Good going -- especially as I understand you had a little bit of Sun?

When you get some sort of PR and are not "ruined" as you well describe the feeling, then you know you are really starting to get fit.

When exactly is the 10k?

Thanks Simon, The 10k is set for Sunday July 15th @ 8:30am. It's my primary goal for mid summer. My secondary goal is that I am planning on participating in my very first half marathon in September (at the earliest). This depends upon my training and performance between now and August 13th which if I remember correctly is the pre-registration deadline (I'll have to check that). Oh, yes, I'd say your are correct, I did have a little bit of sun, you should have see me when I put on a different tank top. he he he
