Posted by StellaTortoise on 7/16/2007 on StellaTortoise's blog I remember setting the alarm and turning it on. Heck, I think even remember turning it off at 4:30 and telling myself to get dressed and head to the gym so that I could get back for a quick run. What felt like 5 minutes turned out to be 180 minutes because the next time I looked at the clock it was 7:00. After grumbling at myself for a few minutes, I remembered how great last week was for me in terms of running. I finished all my planned runs and lifted weights when I said I would. My 12-miler on Saturday was great: perfect weather (60s, low humidity - rare for Northern VA in July) and great company from one of the gals from the running club. My new running shorts didn't cause any problems and the Strawberry Clif Shot that I tried for the first time was yummier than I expected. One of the main reasons I run first thing in the morning is to make sure I get it in. By the time I get home from work today, I'll have to get ready for my swimming class so getting in 5 miles today probably isn't going to happen. Fine - that means I'll just have to reshuffle and stick to the rest of the week's training plan. BTW - I'm hoping that by coming clean to all of you about my missed run will be be added motivation to make me get my groggy butt out of bed tomorrow morning. Guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out. | |

Not only have I been routinely sleeping in when I told myself I was going to get up and run, I don't have the courage to confess. Oops, I guess I just did. But I'm not coming clean on how often I've been doing this.
Time does indeed fly, not just minutes and hours, but days.
Way to go, Stella. Thanks for the inspiration.

I, too, am an early morning runner and the struggle to get up increases in the summer - must be the heat. Hope you can get up tomorrow!!
