YourRunning.com enthusiast-in-chief Simon Martin is not paranoid, and is not losing it. We had our doubts last week when he began running at night, writing in strange tongues, and training in secret, but this week in his blog, Run Time, things seem back to normal. Seem being the operative word.
The week started off with his first "out in the open" time trial, with pleasing results. (Looks like that paranoid training is really paying off!) Also reveling in "pleasing results" is Simon's favorite training partner Patty Murray, who kicked some butt in New York.
A dreaded Coach McGee-mandated return to the 3000m realm loomed for Simon, as Bobby wanted to use the Boulder Road Runners race as a speed endurance measuring stick after Simon's all-over-the-map training this year. How did he fare? You'll have to check his Run Time to find out.
Thanks to the continuing wizardry of the YourRunning Magic Tech Gnomes, another cool feature has been added to the site: geo-tagging! What that basically means is that the computer chips we've secretly installed in your brains allow us to track you where ever you are.
Not really. Only Google does that.
What our geo-tagging enables you to do is "tag" and identify the location that an item you've posted references, or where you're based.
For example, if you post a blog about a run you finished in someplace insane, like, say, the North Pole, you can use the map interface to locate the approximate location of the run.
As YourRunning.com grows and the content on the site expands, we wanted a way to sort and find stuff more efficiently. By capturing location data for content that is posted to the site, we can create new ways for viewing and enjoying what's been posted by members and staff.

YourRunning.com's founder and publisher Steve Outing started off this week's blogs with a new way to put himself to sleep: trying to find himself at the the Bolder Boulder finish line on their web video. melikerunfast wondered to Simon what the deal is with the great heel striking debate. While weltal327 now has a sub 6-minute mile in his sights, Jetfuelburner finished off an enhanced week by seeing how much work needed to be done to do just that. Wise words about trying to fake your way to a good race came from marcusgrimm, and inspirational words about turning a failed run into a positive experience flowed from trunner. To round the week out, littlemamalopez showed how running can create priceless moments.
