Posted by cselland on 8/19/2007 on cselland's blog Had an OK long run this morning - 18 miles in about 3:08 - felt good until about 14 miles in and then my HR started to climb. Probably had something to do with not getting out early enough and the heat climbing at the same time. Still all told not bad - other than needing sidewalks on some of the roads I mapped out yesterday it was a pretty route. Only major glitch - which ALSO cropped up right around that 14 mile mark - was my intent to use 'Schoolmaster's Lane' to cut through from the Dedham Country Club to Route 135. The 'Not a Through Way' sign at the head end of the road should have been a tip, but the road indeed doesn't go through - it instead dead-ends at a private home. Needing to backtrack one of the hilliest parts of the run when you're hurting isn't fun. MapMyRun was useful but this was unfortunate. The backtracking also caused me to finish about 3 miles short of my home, but thankfully I brought a phone and my wife was on the road nearby so I not only got a ride home, but we stopped by 7-11 for the Big Gulp I was absolutely craving by that point. | |
