Posted by brad on 6/10/2007 on brad's blog Keystone to Silverthorne: 10.12m. 2:00:59. +814/-1,150. Many of the great runners that I know have some mental image of themselves. Mine is a simple one – “the machine.” I’m slow, but I can just grind out mile after mile after mile. There’s probably an ultramarathoner hidden in me waiting to jump out and surprise everyone, but for now I’ll stick with marathons. Keystone was perfect today – 65+, breeze, light fluffy clouds. I left the house around 8:45 and arrived in Silverthorne at Sunshine Cafe for some pancakes two hours later. While I was on the road, it’s a relatively slow pace because of both the altitude and the hills. But – I feel great and enjoyed a nice 1970 Grateful Dead set. I’ve even tossed in a 9:32 on the last downhill mile. The machine is back. I didn’t blog yesterday’s short run (3.17m) because I was off the grid for the day. It was a nice recovery run that got me solidly in the high 20’s for the week (26.8m running; 6.6 hiking.) | |
