T.G.I.F - Thank God It's Freezing!!!! Day 3 of my frozen work environment experiment started off rather disastrous. While en route to work this morning, I was checking e-mails on my computer when my assistant sends over an instant message that said "someone opened your door and turned off your A/C!"... When I arrived at work, my office was a nice comfortable 70 degrees - it took the rest of the morning and half of the afternoon to get it back down to 57.

Training this week has been great with no real setbacks (sorry Dane). I did a hilly 8 last night while listening to a Competitor Radio podcast of Peter Snell - New Zealand's "Athlete of the Century" and gold medalist in both the 1960 and 1964 Olympics in the 800 meters - and finished up my week with a short 5 mile "city tour run" just now that includes two of the more famous hills in San Francisco (California Street and the squiggly part of Lombard).

This weekend is going to be all about gear (i.e. the potential for large sums of money to exit my wallet is great). My main mission is to find all the things I'm going to wear while I'm NOT running. I've been so focused on the requirements of the actual race that I completely forgot about the other 40+ hours I'll spend at the Pole in clothing OTHER than what I'll be running in. Something tells me that cargo shorts and an Old Navy Performance Fleece vest aren't going to cut it. My camcorder will accompany me on this shopping spree, so once I get that spliced together (with some age-appropriate music) it will be AS IF you all were there spending my money with me.

Tomorrow's post will include details on a little contest I've dreamt up that will give one lucky winner 100 of ANYTHING Powerbar!

Stay tuned!
~B

P.S. only 40 more training days!
