This is a beta feature, which means it's not perfect yet and we're still adding things to it. But by all means go ahead and try it out. The idea is that you can share your favorite running routes via a cool satellite image interface (courtesy of Google Maps), then other runners can leave reviews of the route. An example is Bobby Bostic's tourist run through San Francisco, which will take you on a scenic tour of the City By the Bay (and give you a serious workout; San Francisco is definitely not flat!). We're working on this feature and will introduce enhancements soon, such as altitude profiles, links to other content about the route or trail (photos, videos, etc.), and user-submitted condition reports. While we're working on those, go ahead and let the YourRunning.com community in on your favorite runs. ... Just map it! | |

This is FANTASTIC functionality! How often have you gone to a strange town and ended up getting your run in doing laps around the hotel near the interstate highway? If we use this the way it should be used, we can construct a very usable database of tried and tested runs.
We can also load in our favorite race routes as well as runs we'd like to do one day!
Thanks for getting this going Steve!

I agree this is great. I've used (or tried to use) several google map hack programs that compile running routes and they never really worked well. This one seems to work perfectly (at least it did for my Pit Bull route). Plus we can add photos, videos, etc..
I hope to add all the Todd's Road Stumblers' routes when I have time.
Before anyone asks, I really am not sure why they climb is called Pit Bull. It is a route that has been established since the 70's when the group was running out there. I imagine it has something to do with a Pit Bull :-)
