Posted by geegee on 7/3/2008 on geegee's blog Hey all you runners out there. I wonder if you can help me. I am in a class called Track Town Traditions at the University of Oregon, here in Eugene where the Olympic track and field trials are going on. My assignment is to collect five examples of running lore. This could be a joke, a story, a legend, a song, sayings, superstions, foodways, clothing, advice, wisdom, or just about any other expressive human behavior generated by running. Please let me know if you have anything to share with me. It may end up in the U of O folklore archives with your permission. I am especially interested in "runner's high." Most of the athletes I have spoken with are reluctant to say they experience this, except for one runner I spoke with today. Hope to hear some interesting lore! geegee | |
