A little twistiness in my left calf -- I need to find sturdier trail shoes and/or strengthen my ankles more so I don't roll them so much. It snowed yesterday and is still cold today (40 degrees) but it was dry. I'm running a marathon on 10/21/07 so time to get serious and quit putzing around. I'm going to use the Cool Running Intermediate Marathon Program -- we'll see how that goes.

This might seem counter intuitive but I think I finally figured out that there IS such a thing as starting to early in marathon prep. I just scrubbed my spring marathon (June 16 Grandma's) because I got greedy and thought if I start sooner in order to get in even more long runs, I'll do that much better right? No! What happened is at just around 12 weeks I reached a plateau (when I should have raced) and now I'm so beat up I'm having to take a month off. This is the 3rd time I've tried the 18 week with similar results. What do they say about the definition of insanity...
Back to the 12 week plan (Pete Pfitzinger - Advanced Marathoning) that generated good results in Denver (10/15/06) and Phoenix (1/16/07). I'll start in July and do Denver again.
Good luck with your marathoning. I'd highly recommend Phoenix for the Arizona portion of your 50 by 50.
