Polar Princess - Bear Medicine

Posted by Jill Salva on 1/25/2007 on Jill Salva's blog

Good morning all –

WHAT’S IN A NAME?
Some know me as “Standing White Bear”. Those who work with animal medicine understand that bears awaken the power of the unconscious.

“Like birds, the bear is often considered among Native American peoples as kin to humans because, like birds, it can stand and walk upon two legs. For many, the bear and the wolf are the last true symbols of the primal, natural world, and many ecologists believe that how humans respond and protect their lands and their future will be the most honest depiction of how serious humanity is about preservation of our environment and the natural resources within it.”

MORE POLAR BEARS BIRTHING ON LAND
A study by three U.S. Geological Survey scientists, suggests the Beaufort Sea Polar Bear Population “could be harmed if the climate continues to grow warmer.” Changes in birthing habits of Polar Bears was observed.

TRAINING – YESTERDAY
A bit over a year ago, I re-discovered yoga. The benefits are many – though most have nothing to do with this 5 senses world. It is the act of surrender, and being open, being in the now and suspending all expectations that makes this ongoing practice impactful for me. Applying these principles to parenting, relationships, running, etc. opens the door to incredible experiences, for me.

TRAINING – TODAY
A trail run is on the schedule today.

Polar Princess …. Over and out.
