Pillow Talk

Posted by littlemamalopez on 11/12/2007 on littlemamalopez's blog

My weekly mileage is down from 25 – 30 miles a week, to 15 -20 miles per week. I could blame it on the “cooler” weather (this is LA). Or I could blame it on how dark it is at 5:30am. But what it all boils down to is that I really do love my pillow. So last Friday, my pillow talked me into running at lunch instead of at 5:30 am. I have an hour and a half for lunch on Fridays so why not? It would be a new adventure. Things started out well enough, I was averaging a 9 minute pace – yes me! A 9 minute pace! But about 20 minutes into the run I really needed to find a restroom. Since I had only been out for 20 minutes, I was going to suck it up and hold it. I continued running. Mistake. I ended up running about 4½ miles, but the end wasn’t enjoyable at all. I was cramping, and walking, and running, and cramping and walking, and you get the picture. Needless to say, when I got back I was sick as a dog. Even after the initial stop at the restroom, I continued to turn a nice shade of green at work until I left for the day at 2:30. The rest of the day I laid curled up in my bed, letting the kids take over the big screen TV with their PS3. So here is my question: Was it the time of day that I ran, or just a 24 hour bug? The only thing I had eaten was a very large bowl of cereal around 7am – which is nothing new. I never run during the day, so I don’t have anything to compare my run to. I’ll have to try it again on Friday to see what happens. I’m hoping it was just a little bug, because I would love to continue my Friday lunch runs so I can spend a little more time with my pillow :) while bringing the mileage back up.
