One week and counting

Posted by littlemamalopez on 10/13/2007 on littlemamalopez's blog

So it seems that I haven't posted since August 29th. My excuse was "busy at work", and unfortunately, I am truly busy at work. I have been training nonetheless and it is now only a week until the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco. I'm ready. I've trained on so many hills it would boggle your minds. Even today with my running group, in "honor" of my doing SanFran next week, we did a 12 mile run through the Santa Monica mountains. So that may have been overdoing it a little. Was a great run today though. Of course I've got my doubts, but I'm pretty confident to hit my target time of 4:45. Yes, I know that is slow for most of you, but for me it would be a PR (my prior one being 4:56). Hope everyone is well. I hope to see RunnerNYC at the start next sunday (I'll be wearing burgandy shorts, white singlet, gray hat and burgandy jacket). I'm sure there are lots more running next Sunday too and I wish you all the best.

Happy running!

Hey there! Glad to see that you're back and that your training is going well. I'm in the same boat as you are in that I haven't posted anything since early August as well. Still training, just not writing.

Best of luck next weekend! I'm sure you'll do great and I look forward to hearing about the race once you've had a chance to recuperate.

Awesome!! I looked at the map, and the Nike Women's looks not too punishing. It's hilly, but in a graceful sort of way. The biggest climb will be around the Golden Gate. You're smart to train in hills. That ocean side run must be pretty, but make sure you check the weather, it can be chilly by the shore. Good luck!

Welcome back: we've missed you!

"Slow"? We're all slow compared to someone. No one can argue with a PR.

Well, I haven't done much hill training, but I'm tapering for NYC, so I'm only looking for a 2:15 or so. I'll be taking pictures and sniffing oxygen and eating chocolate! :D
