Night Strider

Posted by Finish Strong on 11/19/2008 on Finish Strong's blog | Groups: Sub-5 Minute Miling

The last few nights have been cold and windy here in the Mid-Atlantic. I layered up and went out the door for a run. I subscribe to the wisdom that a friend of mine said years ago : " The is no such thing as bad weather , only bad clothing. " I ventured to a few different parks where I know the terrain and began to make some circuits. It was pretty dark , but I loved the solitude. The second park is the highest point in my zip code , and the wind was really strong. I loved the headwind and tailwind as I made my way around the perimeter.
My fitness level isn't very good now , but I've rediscovered the joy of running at night. I'm not worried about speed , and am intent on staying healthy while building a base. I aspire to being in race shape by Spring , but am just going to enjoy every run. When I was a teen many of my runs were at night.
I hope you are enjoying your training these days. If it fits your plans , consider coming to Landover , Md in March for National Master's Indoors ( 20th to 22nd ) I want to run either the 800 or the mile.
Happy trails !
