New shoes!!

Posted by Finish Strong on 12/12/2007 on Finish Strong's blog | Groups: Sub-5 Minute Miling

I got some much needed bounce back in my stride by simply buying a new pair of shoes. I even changed brands (to Saucony from Asics) because the store manager was extolling the virtues of the new "paramount." I've never paid this much money for a pair of shoes and fear that my running may not be worthy of such a magnificent pair of shoes.

I will say that any pain I had been feeling in my calves disappeared, and I have a case of happy feet. I have every reason to believe that this week will mark only the second time in my running life where I've logged more that 30 miles. You "ultra" folks much chuckle at such a modest accomplishment, but I've never been one for long distances.

I enjoyed reading about the club x-country championships in Ohio last weekend. Apparently over 300 master's men competed on a soggy course. Inspirational!

Isn't it something of a lesson how much easier you can run if you get the right pair of new shoes?

I know I tend to wear mine to destruction before considering a new pair. Bad idea. I really ought to remember that, once I'm happy with a pair of shoes, I should immediately buy a second pair.

Which model Saucony did you get?

I bought the " Paramount." They are the top of the line , with a price to match. I can't speak highly enough of the comfortable ride though. I hope all is well with you.
