Jetfuelburner's Fit From Fat Running Blog

My fifth of a marathon loop....

Posted by Jetfuelburner on 4/26/2007 on Jetfuelburner's blog

5.3 miles tonight...my regular loop.

I didn't run Monday, and yesterday I only did 2 miles in the woods with my daughter at 10 yr old pace..

So tonight, I got back out there and did 5.3 miles. I wore my new Brooks shoes as the rain stopped earlier and the streets have dried...

I felt like I was putting out a good amount of effort but when I got to the fountain at 2 miles, my time was 19:00...a full minute slower than the last time I ran this loop. I pressed on, trying to keep my effort level up to make up some of that time and approach my best time on this route of 45:08 from a few weeks ago.

For some reason in these new Brooks shoes, I just feel like my legs are clunking down, and not flowing across the ground. It may be the days I am running in them, or some other factor, but I have not had a very pleasing run in them yet. Well...my time for tonight was 46:16 which is a pace of 8:44 per mile....and although that is :25 per mile faster than I need for my goal marathon...it seems like I was really working my ass off tonight to get even that pace...it kept going through my head as I ran tonight that this distance (5.3) is almost exactly one fifth of the distance of the marathon.

Time for me to go to bed......
