MANN. NIKE. MAN!

Two things I'm a huge fan of are director Michael Mann's films -- Heat, The Insider, Collateral to name a few -- and Nike ads. So I almost fell out of my chair this morning when I saw this: a Nike commercial directed by none other than Mann himself.

The commercial, which features running back LaDainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers, is part of a new campaign developed by ad agency Wieden+Kennedy for Nike's Zoom footwear line.

In addition to the commercial, there are a series of print ads featuring French Open champ Rafael Nadal, track star Lauren Fleshman, and Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash (my favorite one of the bunch).

You can check out the 30-second TV ad and print campaign on Wieden+Kennedy's blog (Nike.com has an extended 60-second cut). There's also a good article about the making of the commercial on San Diego Union-Tribune's site (it was filmed at two in the morning at Qualcomm Stadium).
