Don't you think ? Just the sheer joy in being in motion. I think we sometimes forget what a gift that is. I've been having fun again with my running. I raced one time this Summer - a 5:20.49 mile. This is my first full week back after having to rest my strained left calf ( gastroc ). I did a progressive 5k in 26:02. That isn't impressive until you consider that it's over seven minutes faster than I ran three weeks ago. I'm letting speed go for awhile , but think I'll be able to call upon it next Spring as big goals are met. I want to build a base of 40 to 50 miles per week by January , then go into a strengthening phase with hill work and cross training , then peak in the Spring/Summer as the goals of: sub 5 minute mile ; and sub 2:15 half , are met. I'd like to do the first in the late Spring , and the second in late Summer. My weight now is 166 ( I'm just under 6'0" ) , but anticipate my race day weight to be 153...we'll see. I may be dreaming. I need to do a 2:30 first. I can rejoice in that I just joined a new age group . I am now a pentagenarian. The problem is that you suddenly realize how many ( 50 - 54 ) beasts there are out there. All the best , young champions ! Happy trails ! Chase | |

isn't it funny how we only appreciate getting out and running on a daily basis when we are unable to do so usually due to an injury of some sort .

nice job letting go when you have to let go, and keeping your eye on future goals! I know I find I remember to just enjoy that I CAN do what I am doing during those runs when I am feeling kind of down....that helps get me through.
