Posted by weltal327 on 9/12/2007 on weltal327's blog I got this from ESPN.com it's about Priest Holmes 34 year old Chiefs Running back making a comeback this year hoping to start playing again in October. "PARKING-LOT SPRINTER The first year he was out of football, Holmes used to go to Spurs games. The crowd and the energy consumed him. One day, he walked out to the parking lot during halftime and ran sprints between the cars. He wanted to see if he still had it. 'Anytime you watch a sport or you see kids doing something athletic,' Holmes says, 'when you see a guy do something you can't do, it makes your competitiveness come out.' He'd do little things like this during the 22 months after his neck injury. He'd wake up and sprint around his neighborhood for no particular reason. When he came in, he'd usually say the same thing: 'I still got it.'" This is me again. I play a few sports, Ultimate Frisbee, Basketball, Football, Tennis, Running, Volleyball, and golf. A few of these sports get shown on t.v. but some of them don't. There are so many times when I turn on the t.v. and I see Roger Federer dominating another Tennis player and it makes me go grab my racket and hit the court and work on my serve. I watch a football game and I can't wait for my fraternities annual football game that I got to Quarterback last year. I see golf and I go hit the driving range or work on putting in my bedroom. When I see a crazy shot in basketball I try to use it in my next pickup game. Constantly I see other people achieving and I want to do better. I hear about other people's marathons and ultras and I want to be there. I read about Master's competitions and sub 5 mile sprints and I want 14 years to pass and I want to be there competing. "If you won't be better tomorrow than you are today, then what do you need tomorrow for?" Every sport I play takes time and effort and I don't always have a lot to give it, but like Priest Holmes I'm glad every time I can get out there and test myself. When I see another runner going faster than tme that I want to beat. I can get out there and prove to myself... that I still got it. | |

Love it! Just what I do. I shout "I still got it!" to myself even when I never had it. But that's what dreams are for....
