Posted by baselbutt on 9/22/2007 on baselbutt's blogHey again everyone,
As I put the finishing touches on my own Kona training, I thought I'd put the word out about my 7th Annual Hawaii Ironman Pool benefiting the Challenged Athletes Foundation (www.challengedathletes.org).
The pool works just like a 10x10 football pool - you buy a square and the winners are based on the person at the intersection of the winning squares. In the case of Kona, numbers are replaced by the names and faces of the top pros.. So first place is the person at the intersection of the first place male (Macca) and the first place woman (MJ).. (parenthetical references are hypothetical, but highly likely)..
Each square this year will cost $29.00 and there will be 100 squares sold.. Before you scoff at the price, I chose $29 because of the 29th anniversary of Ironman this year (next year will be $30 I guess). Everyone who buys a square will get a FREE limited edition Headsweats KONA 2007 CAF race hat (limited edition means 100 hats), and for every square purchased, I will match the funds raised so that the total pool directs $7,500 to the CAF. (100 squares x $29 + my match = $7,500).
If you'd like to support the CAF, have some fun on raceday and get a great hat, you can buy squares on my website (www.ponyexpressrun.com).
Thanks for your support!

I'm in! Are the squares assigned randomly or do I have to pick one?
