Changing the Diet..

Posted by weltal327 on 4/18/2007 on weltal327's blog

hurts more than the longest runs. Cutting out the food I love...

The first cut I ever made was when I stopped drinking sodas and went to water only. I am so glad I have, but it is such a temptation. But I'm proud to say as someone that used to easily go through 48 12 oz. cans of Dr. Pepper in a week I haven't even had that many this entire year. I haven't even had 24. (I do drink sports drinks and other things when I need the supply)

I'm not an expert at dieting. I was tempted for a little while to Change my diet to vegetables and fish only or something crazy like that, but for the most part I still eat whatever I want, but I make smarter choices along the way. When I was younger my parents couldn't get me to eat wheat bread. My dad and my father both chose wheat, but I was always with the white. Look at me now all grown up and out to make my own decisions and I get wheat bread (I think it all tastes the same toasted anyway). Ritz Crackers get replaced by wheat Ritz Crackers. Subway, While I feel like I'm eating healthy here no matter what I still choose the wheat bread over Parmesan Oregano. And lastly Pasta. Whole wheat Penne or whatever other kinds of whole wheat Pastas.(I don't eat as much pasta as I used to... The whole wheat Pasta is the only wheat thing that bothers me)

I hate dieting and eating less... or eating right. I get so hungry now and trying to find the right things to eat just gets frustrating. I want to grab a bag of chips and eat the whole thing. Granted, Due to my young age and the amount of running I do, I can do that, but I know it's not the best for me and I would still like to drop some weight.

Ok and here is the kicker for why it stinks so much for me to diet. I'm one of those runners that reads what other people say about why it's good to eat that stuff, but I don't have a clue about why. People start talking about Proteins and antioxidants, and it's like I'm back in highchool health class. I don't get it. I have been so into running communities online, and I read all the time, but I find very little about the real reasons to choose those foods. I've tried looking stuff up on wikipedia, and while I know there are runners out there that know why they choose those foods, and what it is about those foods that make them right, but I don't see it. I don't find their articles to read.

But I keep on going with my wheat bread and my wheat crackers. I eat vegetables and I rarely say yes to the foods high in carbs, but I don't know why.
