Posted by baselbutt on 5/5/2007 on baselbutt's blog I finally broke through the funk I had been in since returning from the North Pole with all the gusto of Jack Nicholson and his trusty axe at the Overlook Hotel. While my "breakthrough" wasn't as dramatic at his, my body screaming out "IT's TIME TO START RUNNING AGAIN!!!!" no doubt would have even drowned out Shelley Duvall's high pitched screams that fateful night. I've seriously spent the past three weeks doing just about everything BESIDES running (which helps to explain my lack of postings lately). If you haven't tried taking a nice break after a big race, I highly recommend it. While not the type of thing to encourage on a site called YourRunning.com, not running can actually be a lot of fun too. OK - enough of the scary movie metaphors and crazy talk about NOT running - Let's get back to business! I was skimming through a marathon calendar today to hopefully find a race to qualify for Boston '08 at and came up with a neat idea.. Since I'll be heading to Kona for the Hawaii Ironman in October anyway, why bother taxing the old body with an extra 26.2 miles when I can just try to hit a sub 3:15(:59) at Ironman?! It's definitely a HOT race... | |

Hey Bobby, glad to hear you're back among the living...in terms of running that is. I agree with your comment about taking time off. The body definitely needs a break sometimes...as does the mind and soul. Happy trails!
