Anything but That!

Posted by weltal327 on 10/19/2007 on weltal327's blog

So, I am planning on running the Kansas City Marathon tomorrow, but yesterday as the day went on, the worse I began to feel and the more my throat hurt. I got some of my favorite feel better Vitamin C drink yesterday, but I had trouble pulling my achy body from the bed this morning and now my throat is intensely bad.

I want to run the marathon, but I don't know if being sick will kill me or what.

I guess I'll have to wait until about 7 am tomorrow to decide if I will be marathoning or not.

UPDATE! I went to the doctor... I have something Viral... I'm staying home, but setting an alarm for about 1:00 am, if i wake up and my virus feels gone, you'll be reading a race report on Monday, if not my first marathon will be waiting until Tulsa Route 66 in Novemember.

Oh, I know what you are going through! My marathon next week is in question because of a newly sprained ankle! Hope you feel better.

Eek, sorry to hear about your cold. I've run one race with a fever and cough, but that was a 12k (Bay to Breakers). It was challenging. My heart had to work harder, and the pounding in my head made my head hurt worse. I don't think I could survive a marathon with a similar illness.

Feel better! And if it clears up, good luck tomorrow!

I bailed on starting the Las Vegas Marathon a few years back because of something like that. It was very disappointing, but I felt like I had to do it for my health. I don't ever want to need to be rescued.
Please let us know how it turned out for you. Whatever you decided, I hope you are well now.
